There are numerous ways to redirect a domain address to a different domain or subdomain and one of them is by creating a CNAME record. If you own a domain and you've created a website using some online service that provides you with a service subdomain, you can easily link the two by creating a CNAME record for your-domain.com that directs to subdomain.provider.com. What you will achieve in this way is that www.your-domain.com will be in the web browser address bar while it opens the already mentioned site from the servers of the third-party provider. It is very important to know that if you create a CNAME record, any other records your domain address may have will stop working, so you cannot have both a CNAME record directing to one company and functioning e-mail address with another one. The CNAME record is always an alpha string, not a number, and sometimes further configuration may be needed with the other provider.

The new record will be fully active within the hour. Using CNAME records permits you to have better control of your domains and site content and our system is simple and intuitive enough to allow people with no previous experience to create this sort of records easily.

CNAME Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with each of our semi-dedicated server accounts, will allow you to create a CNAME record effortlessly. When you want to create a private URL for your e-mails, to point a domain address to a subdomain in the account or to forward a domain name to another provider and use some third-party service which they provide, it will not require more than three mouse clicks to create such a record. All DNS records for the domains and subdomains hosted within the semi-dedicated account are going to be listed in a separate section in the CP, so when you're there, all that you will have to do will be to select the type of the record that you want to create and the hostname for which you are creating it, and then type in the actual record text. For your convenience, you can see a short video inside the Control Panel concerning how to set up a CNAME record or you can follow the instructions in the help article, that is available in the DNS records section.
